“If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants” – Sir Isaac Newton When Chris Reynolds co-founded Investment Planning Counsel in 1996, he set out on a mission to help entrepreneurial financial advisors build better businesses. Since then, he’s remained steadfast in this mission. Chris believes that at the heart of any great business is remarkable client experience: how you meet the needs of your clientele, how you evolve with them as they change and, ultimately, how you leave your clients feeling about you after every single interaction they’ve had with you and your business. A life-long learner, Chris is always learning from the best of the best – from within our industry and from outside. In his podcast, Turning the Page, Chris will bring you the stories, the lessons, and the winning ideas from the people who have made it and from those who are reshaping the future of financial advice.

As an entrepreneur, it can feel like there’s a million things going on at one time that we must deal with. Client calls, paperwork, compliance, working with your staff, living life and being with your family! Yet so many people can really focus and execute at such a high level, accomplishing amazing things with their time. Sometimes it looks like magic!
How are they able to do that without burning out?
My guest today, Gabriella Mengstab, is a performance strategist with over 18 years of experience in financial services, including leadership roles at PIMCO, Allianz, and Perpetual. She’s worked across operations, trading, and business development. But her sweet spot lies at the intersection of sales performance and human potential.
Gaby specializes in the neuroscience of flow, focus, and cognitive clarity—equipping sales leaders and advisors with tools to reduce overload, unlock deep work, and execute under pressure.
Gabriella holds an MBA from NYU Stern and is certified through the Flow Research Collective, with extensive training in cognitive behavioral science, neuroscience, breathwork, and meditation. In 2023, a performance training she developed for financial advisors at Perpetual was named a finalist for the Barron’s & MMI Asset Management Awards, recognizing her unique ability to merge commercial acumen with cognitive mastery.
Gabriella is the founder of KinderWell, a performance consultancy helping financial professionals upgrade their internal operating system so they can lead, sell, and live at their highest level without burning out.

Welcome to 2026 and a brand New Year! A clean slate full of possibilities! What’s important for high-net-worth investors right now?
Joining me today to talk about it is Simon Bowers, Private Wealth Portfolio Manager at IPC. Simon joined IPC in 2022 after a 20-year stint at an investment counselling firm where he was both Head of Retail Trading and a Vice-President & Portfolio Manager. We all try to give back to the community that we serve. I’ve talked about how advisors within IPC give back not only to communities in Canada but around the world. Philanthropy can also be harnessed as a game-changing strategy for client relationships, legacy planning, and business growth. Some advisors have made it a major part of their business model. Many advisors have clients that have charitable donations as a major part of their own wealth plan.
My guest today, John Bromley, has a very unique perspective on this topic and even built something very unique and awesome in this space - a whole platform for it. He’s redefining how donors—and their advisors—think about generosity.
John Bromley, founder and CEO of Charitable Impact, Canada’s first fully online donor-advised fund that has facilitated over $1.5 billion in charitable giving. John is passionate about simplifying philanthropy and empowering individuals to create meaningful change. With a background in corporate finance and a lifelong connection to the charitable sector, John is here to share his insights on generosity and the future of giving.

Our business isn’t just about spreadsheets, numbers and documents—it’s about people. And yet, as financial advisors, we’re often trained to lead with logic when we might be wrestling with emotion.
In today’s episode, we’re diving into the human side of business and succession planning—the part that doesn’t show up on a balance sheet but can make or break the entire process. How can you manage your emotions when it comes to working with your clients? How can you manage your emotions when it comes to putting together your succession plan?
Today, Liz Doyle Harmer is here to share her insight. As a Transformational Leadership Coach and Facilitator, Liz supports senior leaders and teams in developing the self-awareness, emotional agility, and resilience needed to lead in today's complex environment. Her approach integrates somatic leadership practices - helping leaders recognize and shift their internal state in real time so they can lead with greater clarity, trust, empathy, and purpose. By engaging both the mind and the body, Liz helps leaders not only understand leadership - but embody it.
Liz's 20-year work experience spans public relations, strategy, event planning, internet marketing, and entrepreneurship. She has coached established and emerging leaders and facilitated leadership training in a broad range of organizations including Marsh McLennan, JP Morgan, Novo Nordisk, Google, RSA, Bank of America, Goodmans LLP. Lole, Hub Insurance, and Johnson & Johnson - across industries such as Financial Services, Pharmaceutical, Legal, Technology, and Non-profit.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - there’s no better way to build a business, especially in the wealth management space - than through a great client experience. Give your clients an experience that makes them feel seen, heard and appreciated and they’ll THEIR friends and family all about you.
Yet so many advisors only focus on the products they are selling, or the plans, or the price they are charging. I am not saying these are unimportant, but they treat this as something that is secondary or just go through the motions. In today’s world, with so many great technological tools available, you have a great opportunity to create unique client experiences that tailors to your clients and even makes it fun for YOU to interact with them!
So, what’s working for advisors today? What are these tools? And what should you think about when you’re creating a great client experience for YOUR business?
Joining me today to talk all about the client experience and sharing some great examples and tools advisors can start using today is Alex Safarova, Brand & Advisor Marketing Manager at IPC. She has spent her whole career helping advisors design great experiences that really WOW clients. This has led to happier clients, higher retention and so many referrals.

Tuesday Oct 14, 2025
Tuesday Oct 14, 2025
Negotiations happen every single day in our lives. Whether we’re dealing with a major business opportunity or just trying to change lanes on the 401. Even though we’re trying to accomplish something, we’re still humans. So how do we negotiate and work to get an outcome that is win-win while keeping and building a relationship with the other party? Do all negotiations have to be so tough? Today’s guest is here to talk about bringing humanity into negotiating in our lives and reminds us that negotiations don’t always follow a one-size fits all approach.
Joining me today is Fotini Iconomopoulos. For over a decade, after working in over 170 industries, Fotini Iconomopoulos has been the person that companies like Ford, Microsoft, MIT, Nestle, Purina, Rolls Royce and Walmart call to help them through their high stakes negotiations or upgrade their negotiation, communication and persuasion skills. She’s the author of the best-selling book “Say Less, Get More: Unconventional Negotiation Techniques to Get What You Want”
